The Department of Commerce, formally set up as an entity in 2003, has imbibed the tradition of exploring new frontiers of knowledge and innovation in academics. In its history spanning over two decades, it has redefined Commerce education in the Hilly District of the State. The Department has the legitimate claim and pride of being the premier Faculty in the District for teaching and research in Commerce discipline. The rapid growth of the Commercial activities in the District necessitates the need of Qualitative education in the subject discipline and is reflected in its expansion as well as novelty in its academic programmes. This has led to the commencement of Bachelors and Master level courses. As a response to market imperatives, the Department of Commerce is all set to be the center for Action Base Research and Skill Development Mission.  In the short period of around 20 years, the Faculty of Commerce has strengthened to play the lead of being academic center- pivot in the subject discipline in this vital Hilly District of the State.
